Nothing causes homeowner frustration like water in your basement.

We’ve had a significant amount of rain fall over the last few weeks and although we’re not facing extreme flooding like parts of Texas and other states, there is still a chance that you could detect water in your basement. Even a small amount of water can cause major damage.

When examining a possible leak to cause water in your basement, use your senses, and some of them are only apparent AFTER the water has gone undetected for a while!

Sound – Do you hear water dripping or running? Do you hear other tell tale signs of water where it shouldn’t be?

Sight – Check your walls for condensation or dripping water, step across all areas of your carpet to check for dampness if its not immediately apparent. A lot of times you won’t see a water leak initially, it will soak right into your carpet and carpet pad quite a bit before it starts to pool or puddle enough for you to notice.

Smell – This one is the worst of all. Depending on the nature of the look, you may smell the water leak before you see it, or even worse….not for a week or longer when the dampness is still present and starts to mold and mildew.

Once you discover the source of the problem, its time for a few phone calls. First is for prevention. The second is for restoration, and thats where we come in!
